Hi,

I think this is the right place to post this on this forum, if not: please move.
Anyway: Does anybody know the price of and Nvidia GeForce 7900 GTX these days?
And any ideas of a 2Gig RAM card? Which is best, and what price should I be looking?

Just go to a reputable e-tailer that delivers to your area and type 7900 GTX into the search box.

2GB RAM ditto - look for Geil, GSkill or maybe Corsair. Make sure you know which speed you need - at a guess I'd say DDR2-800MHz, that being the most common, but I have no idea what motherboard you have.

Can I ask you why do you want such an old card?

I'm not sure if you will find one at all, and their price might just be overpriced.

If you aren't a brand addicted person I would suggest you to look at some ATI Radeon HD 4850 or ATI Radeon HD 4770. These cards are much more powerful for gaming then a 7900 GTX and their price should be around or under 100$.

If you are in an even tighter budget check a ATI Radeon HD 4670 which should be even cheaper and a still a lot faster than that 7900 GTX.

If you are looking for a 2gb ram graphic card there are none that is worth in the market, if any at all and surely not a Geforce 7900 GTX.

If you what you are looking is instead a memory stick, you need to find if you your PC uses DDR Ram or DDR-II Ram. The price shouldn't be very high for the DDRII, dunno about the DDR though, since its a tad old.

Well, this game (Mass Effect) needs it for it's optimal settings. And I thought older cards are probably cheaper than newer ones.

Anyway, here's my current system:

Odd i cant find any more specifications on your PC(CPU speed/type) But im guessing off the 133mhz front side bus its AGP interface. If that's true you're pretty much out of options besides this

Thats the best AGP card on the market that i've seen, much more than a 7900.

Now when you get back with more specification,or need help getting that info, we can go from there.

I use these to see the most info about a computer: HWiNFO32, Comodo System Cleaner, EVEREST, or SiSoftware Sandra. All really similar, but the last 2 are commercial.

If so, it's a mATX system, 800/533 FSB, integrated graphics but with one x16 PCIe.

I think your machine will be hardly pressed to play mass effect even with a newer graphic card.

I'd say buy a new computer, but if you're looking for a 2GB Graphics card I hope you have a huge monitor to justify it. 2GB GTX 285's are out for sale now.

Mass Effect suggests 2 GB od system Memory (or RAM), you don't need a Video Card with 2GB of VRAM to run that game.

I'd suggest going and getting a new computer all together, esp. if you were planning to do that within a year anyways. There is very little point in doing upgrades on an Pentium IV machine anymore.

With that said, what might your budget be for a new computer? And what games or programs would you like to run on it? There are lots of people here that love to help others find the perfect build for a new computer.

My budget is around 900$ - 1000$. Mass Effect, CoD4 & 5, games like that should run on it. So if anyone knows what the perfect build is, I would love to know it. :-)

you can pretty easily assemble such a system for around $700 USD, depending on if you include the monitor in it or not. my system, which i built last year, can handle mass effect at max settings 1680x1050 without breaking a sweat.
